Doren buff, Lita MT magic (which also debuffs resistance), Seri Kesu MT magic, followed for very late game mobs by a Cyclone from Adrian. With this setup, every non-boss encounter dies within 1 round, without getting to take any actions.

Song of the Elves is so powerful that Doren is the clear choice not just for Water Stones, but also Wind Stones and Magic Apples (which free up stat points for his INT). They simply aren't hurt by investing in INT instead. There are a few bosses with much higher magic resistance than physical resistance, so those special physical abilities are definitely still useful.

This is particularly true because there is so much equipment that boosts ATT alongside INT - and both Lita's and Doren's buffs increase both stats, too. Once you are at a moderately high level, investing 8 points into MAG (for that magical 7 MP regen) so you can use an ability basically every turn is a small price to pay for the improved damage output (and MT targeting!!) you get from them. If you don't get a crit, special abilities will do more damage - period, for any build. The only reason for them to use regular attacks (or invest in ATT instead of INT) is ifĪ) they want a chance of getting a crit, orī) they don't want to invest in MAG to support use of MPĪlthough high ATT apparently raises crit chance by itself, I never saw crit chance reach particularly meaningful levels, even with Lita and all stat points into ATT. Lita and Adrian both have special attacks that benefit equally from ATT and INT. Now, the physical attack vs magic attack question. This is extra true when you realize this means you get more attacks in during the duration of a single Marked or Exposed status, which means Adrian and Seri Kesu can spend more time using their better attacks and less time debuffing. Taking 50 or 60 of those points and putting them into INT would not generate enough extra damage to make up for the extra turns lost (to say nothing of the flexibility that comes with them). I finished at level 32, with everyone's AGI (after items!) between 250 and 260. This has the effect of making AGI more valuable to invest in than it would be otherwise, since the relative impact of putting a point into ATT or INT or even DEF is lowered, but not so for AGI. However, when your MAG hits 42 (with 8 points invested), MP regen goes up 1 extra point as well, i.e., you regen 7 MP per round at 42 MAG.Ī lot of the advice for stat distribution seems to ignore Song of the Elves, which has no downside and (when Doren's INT is high) adds a TON to everyone's ATT, DEF, and INT. It is mostly correct that every 2 points into MAG (i.e., every 8 MAG) increases MP regen by 1, as is stated in guides. More on that below.Īlso, I'm not sure, but I suspect that INT increases the odds of Seri Kesu's status effects landing, as I get much better than 33% results with those MT spells, which is cool. INT definitely increases the impact of Song of the Elves, and quite noticeably. (If relevant, I tested with level II versions.)

I get nearly identical results from them with all points in ATT, all points in INT, and points evenly split. Lita's and Adrian's special physical attacks say "ATT+, INT++" - suggesting that INT should boost them more than ATT. While playing, I did some testing and noticed some things about the way stats work that are not quite as advertised, and some others that differ from the advice in the guides. I just finished the game (really enjoyed it! thanks dev!).
